Vanda hybrid Orchid (Purple Flowers)

Vanda orchids are a beautiful and unusual hybrid orchid. The Vanda orchid are epiphytic, this means they don't grow in soil instead they attach their roots to a nearby surface to obtain nutrients and water. They are native to areas of Asia. This variety has thick deep green glossy strap-like leaves. The large white flowers are beautiful and delicate. These come with a hanging wire in a terracotta pot with its roots hanging down.

Care Difficulty: Has moderately care needs.

Light requirements: Prefer bright indirect light. Direct sunlight can cause the leaves to burn.

Watering: Water weekly in lukewarm water from the bottom allowing it to drain afterwards. Can mist these plants to increase humidity and water uptake.

Humidity: Enjoy humidity. Browning tips are usually caused my dry air. Increase by placing in kitchen or bathroom, using a humidifier or grouping plants together.

Toxicity: Not known to be toxic to humans and pets

Feeding: Enjoys being fed during Spring- Summer growth period. Always follow the instructions on your feed of choice. Preferable to use orchid feed.

Repotting: Repot around every two to three years using orchid bark -check to see if the roots are growing to big for the pot!
