The Pachira aquatica is also known commonly as the 'Guiana chestnut, Kapok tree, Saba nut or the Money tree'. The tree is native to the tropics and thrives when close to swamps and wetlands. The trunk of this little tree has been braided and is topped with large green ribbed leaves that are positioned in a star formation. It is rumoured that this plant brings good fortune and prosperity into your house! This tree will grow very tall if cared for correctly.

LOVES- Water- as its latin genus 'aquatica' hints at, this plant loves moisture. Water 1-2 times a week keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged and mist frequently.

HATES- Dry soil and air. Direct sunlight- keep this tree in a semi-shady to bright position.

Light requirements: The Pachira prefers a semi-shady to bright spot away from direct sunlight.

Watering: As its latin genus 'aquatica' hints at, this plant loves moisture. Water 1-2 times a week keeping the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged

Humidity: Typically prefers average home humidty but misting frequently through Spring & summer to increase will encourage your Pachira to thrive

Toxicity: Considered non-toxic but if ingested could potentially cause harm to pets

Feeding: Feed using a balanced liquid fertiliser on average once a month through the growing season (Spring-Autumn) Stop in the winter

Repotting: Repot once every 2 years on average. The plant can be regularily pruned through spring/summer to encourage bushy growth

FREE UK DELIVERY ON ALL ORDERS OVER £50.

Free local delivery to Brighton & Hove homes and surrounding areas is available.

UK Nationwide delivery fees (for total orders under £50):

  • £4 for 48-hour tracked delivery via Royal Mail
  • £6.95 tracked next-day working day delivery with UPS (order must be received before 2pm to guarantee next-day delivery).

These charges cover the whole order, regardless of how many items. Please email us if you would like the option to upgrade your shipping for faster delivery.

Refunds & returns

Refunds are available for any plant or product with an obvious fault. The request must be made within 7 days of delivery via email or by phone.

Any products damaged in transit will require photos to be submitted via email. If we think they are salvageable we will provide you with return labels. If they are not we will provide a full refund, but we require the complaint to be submitted within 7 days of receiving the plant.

Any return of plants within 7 days for any other reason will require the customer to pay for that return postage. Full details can be found here on our Refunds Policy page.
