Mammillaria microhelia is a columnar cactus native to Mexico. It can be both clump forming or solitary with spines that are cream or brown spines. Spices are arranged like the sun rays hence the common name. Stems are a lighter green and can grow up to 15cm high and 5cm in diameter. Produces yellow or pink flowers in summer.

The Mammillaria microhelia is only found in the state of Queretaro in Mexico. It grows amongst volcanic rock in semi deserts at elevations of 2,000 metres above sea level. 
This species variety is considered to be endangered because of being in only a few locations, habitat decline,  and illegal over collecting. It is estimated that only 500 mature specimens remain in the wild.

    Quick Care Guide

    Care Difficulty: Super easy to care for, brilliant plant for beginners as they don't require much care.

    Light requirements: Warm bright sunny spot, with some direct sunlight being ideal. A south facing windowsill is ideal.

    Watering: Water thoroughly from the bottom but allow this plant to dry out completely between waterings. Drought tolerant, its best to underwater then to overwater. Reduce watering in winter. Sensitive to cold temperatures.

    Humidity: Does not need any extra humidity.

    Toxicity: Toxic to humans and pets

    Feeding: Enjoys being fed during Spring- Summer growth period. Always follow the instructions on your feed of choice. A cactus feed is best.

    Repotting: Repot around once a year -check to see if the roots are coming out the bottom of the pot.

    Free local delivery to Brighton & Hove homes and surrounding areas is available.

    UK Nationwide delivery fees (for total orders under £50):

    • £4 for 48-hour tracked delivery via Royal Mail
    • £6.95 tracked next-day working day delivery with UPS (order must be received before 2pm to guarantee next-day delivery).

    These charges cover the whole order, regardless of how many items. Please email us if you would like the option to upgrade your shipping for faster delivery.

    Refunds & returns

    Refunds are available for any plant or product with an obvious fault. The request must be made within 7 days of delivery via email or by phone.

    Any products damaged in transit will require photos to be submitted via email. If we think they are salvageable we will provide you with return labels. If they are not we will provide a full refund, but we require the complaint to be submitted within 7 days of receiving the plant.

    Any return of plants within 7 days for any other reason will require the customer to pay for that return postage. Full details can be found here on our Refunds Policy page.
