Cryptanthus bivittatus 'Pink star'. This colourful little plant is part of the large Bromeliad family that typically grow in a epiphytic way, high up in the canopy on taller plants in the tropical rainforest however this variety grows on the ground making it perfect for terrariums as it creates ground cover with a vibrant pop of colour. Native to the rainforests of South America, with the majority found in Brazil. 

RATING- Easy

LOVES- A bright spot away from direct sunlight which can scorch the leaves. Water on average once a week or when the top inch of soil has dried out. Reduce amount and frequency in Winter.

HATES- Dark shade, the colours will fade! Overwatering- water when the top inch of soil is dry.

    Quick Care Guide

    Care Difficulty: Easy to care for plant.

    Light requirements: Prefer bright indirect light. Direct sunlight can cause the leaves to burn.

    Watering: Water thoroughly but allow this plants top inch of soil to dry out between waterings.

    Humidity: Loves humidity. Grouping humidity-loving plants together can help, as can placing pots of a wet pebble tray. You can mist the area around the foliage although this will only increase humidity temporarily. Humidifiers are also beneficial to increase humidity. These plants also do very well in terrariums.

    Toxicity: Non toxic to humans and pets

    Feeding: Enjoys being fed during Spring- Summer growth period every 4 waters. Always follow the instructions on your feed of choice.

    Repotting: Repot around once every 2 years -check to see if the roots are coming out the bottom of the pot!

    Free local delivery to Brighton & Hove homes and surrounding areas is available.

    UK Nationwide delivery fees (for total orders under £50):

    • £4 for 48-hour tracked delivery via Royal Mail
    • £6.95 tracked next-day working day delivery with UPS (order must be received before 2pm to guarantee next-day delivery).

    These charges cover the whole order, regardless of how many items. Please email us if you would like the option to upgrade your shipping for faster delivery.

    Refunds & returns

    Refunds are available for any plant or product with an obvious fault. The request must be made within 7 days of delivery via email or by phone.

    Any products damaged in transit will require photos to be submitted via email. If we think they are salvageable we will provide you with return labels. If they are not we will provide a full refund, but we require the complaint to be submitted within 7 days of receiving the plant.

    Any return of plants within 7 days for any other reason will require the customer to pay for that return postage. Full details can be found here on our Refunds Policy page.
