Adiantum raddianum (Delta maidenhair fern)

Adiantum raddianum, the Delta maidenhair fern, in the plant family Adiantaceae. The common name (Maidenhair fern) comes from the delicate leafy stems which resemble human hair! Their natural habitat is wet, damp and humid, they grow alongside streams and rivers, on forest floors and in rock cracks on cliffs.

Care Difficulty: Moderate care needs.

Light requirements: These plants are found on the forest floor so don't receive any direct sunlight which can burn its delicate leaves. Bright indirect sunlight is best. If the plant receives too little light it wil produce yellow leaves.

Watering: Maidenhair fern's like to be kept moist but not soggy. Water when the top 2 inches of soil have dried out. soil consistently moist but not soggy. Avoid letting the plant sit in water as this can lead to root rot and yellow leaves.

Humidity: These plants love humidity, place in a bathroom or kitchen for an added boost. Alternatively you can use a humidifier, group plants together or mist regularly.

Toxicity: Non toxic to humans and pets

Feeding: Enjoys being fed during Spring- Summer growth period around once a month. Always follow the instructions on your feed of choice.

Repotting: Repot around once a year -check to see if the roots are coming out the bottom of the pot!
